What Summerbridge Dayton Parents Say

Parents are also asked to evaluate the program. Overall, Parents were pleased with Summerbridge Dayton and were grateful that their child was able to participate. Most parents stated that their child's summer would have been boring and without any educational benefit if they hadn't participated in Summerbridge Dayton.

Parents were asked if Summerbridge Dayton was preparing their child for a rigorous high school experience. The parents were asked to rank their responses based on a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 representing not at all and 5 representing a lot. Of the parents who responded to this question, 38% of them selected the highest ranking (5) and said Summerbridge Dayton was preparing their child academically for high school.

The next question asked was how much influence Summerbridge Dayton had on their child's attitude toward learning. Parents were asked to again rank their responses from 1 to 5 with 1 representing no influence and 5 representing much influence. 92% (22) of the responding parents believe their child's attitude toward learning has been positively affected by attending Summerbridge Dayton.

Summerbridge Dayton parents were asked their opinion about the amount of homework students received during the program. Using the scale of 1 to 5 with 1 representing not enough and 5 representing too much, 26%(6) said there was not enough homework and 48% (11) reported the homework was just right. No parents stated there was too much homework, however some open-ended comments stated that there could have been more homework.

Finally, parents were asked to rate the Summerbridge Dayton program as a whole with 1 representing poor and 5 representing incredible. 100% (23) of the parents rated the program highly (ranking of 4 and 5 combined).

Parents commented that the program was a wonderful benefit to their child. Some parents requested weekly reports during the program. This summer, a weekly update was sent to each home (by the students and by email).
