What is OCPM?

  • The Ohio Certified Public Manager (OCPM) program is a nationally accredited management development program designed to enhance public service in Ohio.

  • The OCPM program is offered through collaboration between the state of Ohio and Ohio’s state universities.

  • The CPM designation is a professional rather than an academic credential awarded to all who complete the two-year OCPM program. Graduates are eligible for membership in the American Academy of Certified Public Managers.

  • The curriculum consists of 300 hours of professional training that includes intensive study, practice, and application. Additionally, two professionally-oriented projects and one comprehensive examination are required components of the program curriculum.

  • Curriculum is designed to address four areas of learning:

    • General Administrative and Organizational Skills

    • Analytical and Conceptual Skills
    • Technical, Quantitative and Qualitative Skills
    • Human Relations Skills

The fee per program hour is $20. Fees include all participant materials and are invoiced on a quarterly basis. Total program cost may be reduced through substitution credit eligibility, applicable to several OCPM courses.
