Gregory Raffio, LEED AP
Sustainability Design Engineer

 

Greg has been with Heapy Engineering since May 2007, working as a Mechanical Engineer. He is responsible for LEED Project Administration, Energy Analysis, Sustainable Design and Standards, and HVAC Design and Standards. Greg’s LEED Project Administration responsibilities include assisting with project team coordination, LEED documentation, Eco-Charrettes, etc. His Energy Analysis experience includes ASHRAE Standard 90.1 Appendix G Energy Modeling, Energy Star Portfolio Manager, Renewable Energy Analysis and Energy Audits. He has been involved with Sustainable Design on many projects including Educational Facilities, Office Buildings, and Hospitals. Heapy Engineering has been involved with over 100 LEED projects to date and provides LEED Program Management, Commissioning, and MEP Design Services.

During Greg’s graduate studies at the University of Dayton, he participated in both the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) and the Building Energy Center (BEC). Both as a team leader and member, he analyzed energy use data and wrote recommendations for energy and economic savings opportunities. His graduate work focused on the socioeconomic importance of net-zero energy buildings and existing building retrofits. As a former co-president of the University of Dayton Sustainability Club, Greg worked with students, faculty, and administration representatives to promote sustainable initiatives for the UD campus. Greg is a proponent of alternative transportation, "green-collar" economics, and reducing fossil-fuel dependence.
