How to Reveal Extensions in Windows

If you want to see the extensions at the end of files names on a Windows computer that hides the names by default,

  1. Open any folder and from the "Tools" menu choose "Folder Options."
  2. In the Folder Options dialog box, click the "View" tab at the top.
  3. Uncheck the box in front of "Hide extensions for know file types."
  4. Click "Apply."
  5. If you want all folders on your computer to show the extensions, also click "Apply to All Folders."
  6. Click "OK."
