CTL Policy #301: Damaged, Destroyed, or Stolen Equipment

- The CTL provides equipment to the entire Wright State University community. These items are provided with the understanding that those persons utilizing University property will make every effort to prevent damage or loss to that property. Inevitably, however, damage or loss will occur. The purpose of this policy is to define client responsibility for equipment borrowed from the Center for Teaching & Learning.

- Equipment delivered by CTL staff to campus classrooms and lecture halls will not be considered the responsibility of the client in the event of damage or theft.
- Equipment delivered by CTL staff to conference rooms, or other non-public areas become the responsibility of the client between the time of delivery and the time of pick-up.
- Equipment picked up in the CTL office becomes the responsibility of the client until returned to CTL.
- Equipment installed in campus classrooms and lecture halls will not be considered the responsibility of the client in the event of damage or theft.
- Financial responsibility for equipment that is stolen while classified as being under the responsible care of a client (see items 1,2,3) will rest with the client. The amount of financial responsibility will be the replacement cost of the stolen or lost item.
- Financial responsibility for equipment destroyed while classified as being under the responsible care of a client (see items 1,2,3) will rest with the client. The amount of financial responsibility will be the replacement cost of the destroyed item.
- Financial responsibility for equipment damaged while classified as being under the responsible care of a client (see items 1,2,3) will rest with the client. The amount of financial responsibility will be the cost of parts and labor necessary to repair the item. Severely damaged items may be declared destroyed if repair costs exceed the amortized value of the equipment.
- The amortized value of media equipment will be based on straight-line depreciation schedules as published by the Inter-University Council of Media Directors.
