I've been dental assisting/dental hygienist for 15 years in the Air Force. I've been preparing for dental school by taking classes that would help me in my first year. I've been taking refreshing courses like HA&P, BioChem, and will be taking histology in the winter. Over the summer, I knew I had to retake the DAT so I took some courses that would aid in my study for it. I took two chemistry courses, a trig course, and biology course. Of course OSU is big on community service, so I continued to volunteer for different things and do several benefits. The advice I'd give is get your application in early. Don't be afraid to apply to out of state schools, just do some research and find schools that accept a lot of out of state students. Also, make sure that you have enough observation hours. Several questions I was asked during the interview were procedure questions. They want to know that being a dentist is truly what you want to do for the rest of your life.
