The SCC staff worked with 155 clients in 2006, up 29% from 2005. The COSM was the heaviest user of our services (30% of consulting hours), followed by the BSOM (23%), external clients (13%), the CONH (13%), and the Administration (9%). Forty-three percent of our clients were faculty and 26% were graduate students or BSOM residents/fellows.
We worked
with 25 external clients in 2006, including affiliations with, among others,
Wright-Patt Air Force Base, Regional Transit Authority, MCM Co., Sebaly,
Shillito, and Dyer Law Offices, The Lakatos Group, Ltd.,
As an indication of its national reputation, the SCC was invited by the editor of “The Statistical Consultant,” a publication of the Statistical Consulting Section of the American Statistical Association, to submit an article describing the WSU SCC (Vol. 23, No. 1, 2006).
On-campus major projects included time-consuming, but important work with the Laboratory Animal Care and Use Committee, presentation of an on-line shortcourse for the College of Nursing and Health, a one credit hour shortcourse for the Biomedical Sciences Ph.D. Program, two major projects with the College of Nursing and Health (“Future THINK” survey for the Dayton area and the annual “Caregivers’ Perceptions of Organizational Dimension in Hospital Nursing Practice”), work with the Nursing Institute of West Central Ohio in conjunction with the Center for Urban and Public Affairs, and opscan form projects (design, scanning, and database construction) of (1) MTH 102 surveys for the Department of Mathematics & Statistics, (2) the Lifespan Health Research Center, and (3) the WSU Office of the President.
According to the “Faculty Scholarly Productivity Index,” WSU ranks fourth nationally in research among small (fewer that 15 doctoral programs) research universities. As the SCC celebrates its 25th anniversary of research support at WSU, we feel great pride in our contribution to the enormous strides that WSU has made in research over the last two and a half decades.
