Faculty Searches: Applied and Computational Research Cluster

The College of Science and Mathematics (CoSM) at WSU has recently begun a multi-year cluster hiring initiative in support of a proposed college wide interdisciplinary PhD program in applied science and mathematics. The Department of Physics and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics are two primary participating units in the "Modeling, analysis, and computation for the physical and biological sciences" research cluster. As part of the initial hiring in this cluster, the Department of Physics and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for an open rank, tenure-track or tenured positions starting Fall 2013.

The successful candidates should have the potential and enthusiasm for helping to forge a productive interdisciplinary research program with researchers within the College, the University and the Air Force Research Laboratory at the adjacent Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Research topics of interest broadly include modeling, analysis, and computation, with application areas such as materials, quantum, geophysical, and nano/biomolecular systems, processes and structures. This includes inverse problems, electromagnetic propagation and scattering, scientific computing, sensors and imaging, materials science, nonlinear dynamics, and complexity analysis. Particular attention will be given to applicants who show potential to make an immediate contribution to the process of building the interdisciplinary PhD program. To be considered at the rank of associate or full professor, candidates must possess excellent track records in research and teaching that meet the university criteria for the rank. Success in obtaining external funding is also highly desirable for appointment at the rank of associate or full professor.

WSU is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer. WSU is part of the LEADER Consortium and recipient of NSF ADVANCE award since 2008 (www.wright.edu/leader).
