CUSTOMIZED OPSCCAN FORMS
The SCC can create and tabulate customized "bubble sheet" questionnaires using OpScan equipment and software from NCS Pearson. We will provide you with a digitized file of the results. Optionally, you may have the data formatted for statistical analysis.
BUBBLE SHEET QUESTIONNAIRES
Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) Technology
Why use "bubble sheets" for questionaires instead of technologies that recognize handwriting or typed characters?
- OMR scanning is fast. An OMR scanner can maintain a throughput of 1,500 to 2,000 forms per hour.
- OMR scanning is accurate. It consistently provides unmatched accuracy when reading data, exceeding the accuracy of expert key-entry clerks because it eliminates transcription errors.
- OMR scanning is cost effective. With OMR technology, organizations can accomplish a wide variety of administrative tasks rapidly and accurately from a central location, with minimum initial and ongoing outlay of funds.
- OMR scanning is easy to implement and support. Compared to many PC network installations, OMR scanners' need for ongoing technical support is minimal. OMR scanners also solve most system availability issues: data can be recorded on an OMR form even when a PC or network goes down. If questions arise, a source form is available to validate results.
The Wright State Statistical Consulting Center uses an OpScan Model 4U Scanner (NCS Pearson) to create custom bubble sheets for clients. The completed questionnaires may be returned to the SCC for scanning. The results are tabulated in a digital file for the client. Special formatting (an SPSS or SAS file, for instance) may be arranged. The client may combine OpScan services with other services provided by the SCC.
