MTH 243 COMPUTATION PROFICIENCY EXAM
MTH 243 REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
In order to take MTH 243 you must pass the Computation Proficiency Exam. This exam must be taken and passed before you register for the class. Any student registering for MTH 243 without a passing score on the exam will be removed from the course.
The Computation Proficiency Exam is a 15-item multiple choice exam used by the Mathematics and Statistics Department to ensure that students have basic manual arithmetic skills. Students must score at least 14/15 on the exam to pass it. Students may take the the exam once per week between weeks 2 - 8 of the current quarter.
Winter term testing begins on Monday, January 9, 2012 and ends on Friday, February 24, 2012.
Procedure:
1. Exams will be administered in the DEV 095 Testing Center (Room 150 MM) on a space available basis. Certain dates may be blocked due to DEV 095 deadlines. The exam will be administered Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. during the weeks stated above.
2. Students may take the exam ONCE PER WEEK. If a student takes the exam more than once in a given week only the first test's score will be valid.
3. All students must show a valid PICTURE ID in order to take the exam. 90 minutes are allowed to take the exam and the student must keep track of the time his/her self. If a student takes longer than 90 minutes to complete the test, the score will be invalid.
4. CALCULATORS ARE NOT PERMITTED.
5. To obtain your test results, see your Math Education instructor or email Ms. Cindy Fleck. Please do not ask for your grade at the Mathematics and Statistics Department office as they will not have access to it.
IF YOU SCORE LESS THAN 14: go to the Math Learning Center in 031 Dunbar Library or see your instructor for help. Then make plans to retake the exam the following week.
6. Results will be filed and distributed to instructors each quarter. Passing grades will be valid for ONE YEAR from the date of testing. Any student who begins MTH 243 more than one year after passing the exam will have to retake the exam.
NOTE: When you register for MTH 243 the system may give you a warning that a signature is required. You must contact Ms. Fleck to get the signature.
