Aina Appova Research Interests: Mathematics Education, Teacher Education and Development, Teacher Professional Continuum, Social Justice and Mathematics Teaching Biography: Dr. Appova joined Wright State in 2008. She completed her Ph.D. in Mathematics Education at the University of Missouri - Columbia. In 2010-2011, Dr. Appova was the Principal Investigator of the grant: Implementing and Measuring the Impact of Lesson Study on Teacher Professional Development funded by the Ohio Department of Education ($387,507) and a Co-Investigator of the grant: Lesson Study: Research on Teaching and Learning sponsored by the Ohio Board of Regents ($121,805). Dr. Appova was on the Program Committee for organizing an international conference for the North American Chapter of the International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics Education (PME-NA) in Columbus, OH (2010). Dr. Appova is a research fellow of the Center for the Study of Mathematics Curriculum (mathcurriculumcenter.org) sponsored by the National Science Foundation ($10,000,000). Dr. Appova is currently a joint appointment faculty between the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and the Department of Teacher Education.
