In mid-May 2006, the Procter and Gamble Lecture brought a world leader in materials' chemistry, viz., Professor Craig Hawker from UC Santa Barbara, to the department. Professor Hawker presented an exciting talk entitled "Commercial Exploitation of Nanostructures: Studies at the Interface of Organic and Materials Chemistry" and he was a delightful, inspiring visitor.
