Wright State University is pleased to partner with school districts throughout Ohio in the College Credit Plus (CCP) program. College Credit Plus is a single program under which high school students earn transcripted high school college credit and college credit at the successful conclusion of that coursework. The Ohio Department of Higher Education has established a set of courses through the Ohio Transfer Module and Transfer Assurance Guides that ensure classes have equivalent content and are accepted at all public Ohio institutions of higher education. Wright State’s CCP course selection focuses on these courses that provide seamless transferability to any public Ohio community college or university.
There are three distinct ways for students in high school to earn college credit at Wright State through the CCP program:
- Through courses on the Wright State Campus
- Through online courses provided by Wright State
- Through courses at the high school taught by high school faculty who meet the Ohio Board of Regents requirements for teaching college level classes
High School teachers must have credentials approved by Wright State.
High School Instructor Responsibilities
When courses are taught by high school instructors or by co-instruction, the following responsibility sets have been established:
- High school teachers must have credentials approved by Wright State
- Prior to teaching a Wright State University course, a high school instructor must attend an orientation on the Wright State campus that includes
- Introduction to the Wright State learning management system
- Introduction to faculty support available from the Wright State Center for Teaching and Learning
- Introduction to academic support available to students
- Meeting with the academic department associated with the class
- Meeting with Wright State faculty mentor to develop syllabus, review learning outcomes and previous course materials, coordinate regular communication
- Determine methods used for projects, examinations, and grading
- High school instructors who have previously taught classes will be required to attend meetings with the Wright State faculty mentor for preparation for the upcoming term.
- Provide regular feedback on student progress to the Wright State mentor
- Host a visit by the Wright State mentor at least once during the course
- Host a visit by the assigned Wright State advisor prior to the deadline to drop classes
- Participate in Wright State course evaluation process
- Submit grades through the learning management system by the required deadlines
- Upon the completion of the class, provide a portfolio of graded student work to the mentor
- Assign a faculty mentor to each high school instructor who will
- Meet with high school instructor at orientation to provide background in the course and student expectations
- Regularly correspond with high school instructor throughout the term
- Make at least one visit to the high school to observe the class and instructor
- At the end of the course, review a portfolio of student work to ensure that the course rigor and grading correspond the that of the course when offered on campus
- Provide a comprehensive instructor orientation prior to the beginning of the academic year.
- Assign an academic advisor to each student who will meet with the students at least twice during the term.
- Provide a recommended on-campus student orientation for each College Credit Plus student taking courses at the high school and an online orientation for those not able to attend.
- Have the academic advisor meet with students prior to the beginning of the term and prior to the last day to drop classes.
To create the pathways:
- Review the course offerings and select the desired courses and method of delivery
- Complete the Pathway form and provide it to the Wright State CCP point of contact
- For courses taught by high school instructors who meet the Ohio Board of Regents faculty qualifications, provide transcripts for review
