Should I turnoff my computer at night?

YES.  There are several reasons for this:

  • There is no reason not to turn it off.  When computers first began to appear on our desks, there were problems with motherboards cracking or power buttons breaking if computers were turned on and off too often.  These aren't problems any longer.

  • It is always a good idea to turn off your computer at night in order to clear out everything in the RAM (Random Access Memory).  This can fill up during the day and the only way to completely clear it is to turn your computer off.

  • All files on your H: and K: drives are backed up every night.  If any are open on your computer, those will not be backed up.  If your computer is turned off, you know all of your files from these drives are closed and ready for back up.
