The Department of Social Work began a partnership with the College of Social Work at The Ohio State University to teach courses at WSU toward a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree awarded by OSU. The first two classes taught by WSU faculty began in Fall 2006,which represented our first step toward establishing a MSW program here.
WSU has an articulation agreement with Sinclair Community College, Clark State Community College, and Edison Community College to accept courses toward the social work major at WSU.
Annually, eleven social work majors participate in the University Partnership Program that awards a $5,000 grant to students who pursue a career in public child welfare.
Based on recent surveys, 93% of BSW graduates seeking social work jobs find employment. Likewise, between 82-92% of BSW graduates since 2000 taking the licensure exam to become a Licensed Social Worker in Ohio pass the exam.
During Fall 2006, the Social Work Club collected over 2600 pounds of food for The Food-Bank’s Good to Go Backpack project. The club was one of ten finalists for the Ohio Make a Difference Day Award which will be presented by the governor’s office in March, 2007.
