Anthony Shoemaker

B.A., Political Science and Mass Communication, 1998

While at Wright State University, Anthony served as editor of The Guardian for nearly two years. In 1997 he was the intern for the editorial page of USA Today near Washington, D.C. He graduated from WSU with a degree in political science and mass communication.

Anthony has worked at the Dayton Daily News since graduating from Meadowdale High School in Dayton. He started as a Neighbors stringer covering Tipp City and Miami County. Anthony worked two years on the features copy desk at the Dayton Daily News and then two years on the night copy desk. He became the Sunday coordinator in 2001 and has managed production of the Sunday paper ever since. He was won several Ohio Society of Professional Journalists awards and won a Scripps Howard First Amendment Award for his work on the special project, Casualties of Peace.

Anthony became a manager in 2005 as weekend editor. As part of the newspaper's reinvention, he became assistant director of design and production. He recently took over duties of page one editor and is now the assistant metro editor.
