Connie Garrison

The Department of Urban Affairs and Geography selected Connie L. Garrison to be our 2005 Alumnus of the Year. Connie Garrison's achievements clearly reflect the mission of our department and university which is to serve the educational needs of our communities. In 2004, the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching named Connie Garrison as the Ohio Professor of the Year. This honor is a footnote to a life's work in the public service which began as a police officer with the City of Miamisburg in 1974. In 1987, Sergeant Garrison retired from the police force and began to advance her education at Sinclair Community College . After completing an associate degree in Criminal Justice at Sinclair, Connie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Affairs in 1989 from Wright State University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Dayton in 1992. For the next three years she served as Assistant City Prosecutor for the City of Springfield . Sinclair Community College was fortunate to hire Connie as a full-time faculty member in 1996. The Department of Urban Affairs and Geography is proud to recognize Connie's personal and professional successes and feel very fortunate to have played a part in her service to our communities.
