PART 3: THE DEGREE AUDIT REPORTING RECORD

Wright State is currently in the process of implementing the Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS) to monitor students’ progress toward the completion of university, college, and program requirements. Eventually, this system will replace the Checksheet in the College of Liberal Arts. When the transition is completed, students will have web-based access to their own DARS records so that they can regularly check which requirements they have completed and which they haven’t. They will also be able to run “what if” records that compare their coursework against a major other than their current one.

Every student’s DARS record is reviewed by the L.A. Advising Office prior to being released for student access. The L.A. Advising Office will continue to review any transfer credit for General Education and adjust the DARS record accordingly. A sample DARS record is reviewed below.

3.1 The Top Section

3.1.1 Top Left

The date the record was prepared, the student’s name and degree program (major department and number).

3.1.2 Top Right

The student’s social security number, the term and year in which the student entered the university (this determines under which General Education program requirements the student entered), and the term and year that the student entered the degree program (major requirements).

3.1.3 Other Basic Information

The next several sections include the title of the department and degree program to which the student belongs, a statement about the status of DARS, a general indication of whether all requirements have been satisfied, a list of any previously attended colleges, and a legend for symbols used throughout the DARS record.
