The program in selected
studies allows students to pursue a self-designed course of study. It is
planned for students with a definite educational objective that is not met
by the majors presently offered by the College of Liberal Arts. While the
program is free from several traditional requirements, students must meet
other requirements and procedures to obtain the degree.
Students are eligible for
the program after they complete 33 credit hours. With the help of program
sponsors, students formulate a contract outlining their study goals and
reserving at least 32 credit hours for core courses that help accomplish
those goals. The contract is evaluated and approved by the Program
Committee.
In addition to completing the core and meeting all other university and college requirements for
graduation, students must successfully complete at least 42 credit hours
in courses numbered 3000 or above; 6 to 12 credit hours must be earned in
LA 4900, Senior Project in Selected Studies. Students must submit a
proposal for the project to the program committee for approval before the
beginning of their senior year.
Students interested in
selected studies should see the committee coordinator for more information
about the program. |
