Art Gallery

Spirits Rising: Heritage and Contemporaneity in Figurative African-American Art

Three contemporary artists' representations of figurative art will be exhibited from February 16 through March 23, 1997.

National Juried Printmaking Exhibition and Historical Relief Prints - Accompanied by an exhibition of historical relief prints from various Ohio museums, the works will be exhibited from April 6 through May 11, 1997.

 

Artist Series

Baaba Maal - Senegal's most spiritual pop singer will be at the WSU Student Union at 8 pm on Friday, February 28, 1997.

Anonymous 4 - An a cappella group will sing on Sunday, April 27, 1997 at 7 pm in the WSU Creative Arts Center.

Student ticket prices range from $5-$35

Music

La Perichole - by Jacques Offenbach. A comic opera hit by the 19th Century master of the Parisian style, February 21 and 22, 1997.

Chamber Orchestra - Works by G.F. Handel, Antonin Dvorak, and Aaron Copeland, March 6, 1997.

Wind Symphony - Works by Russell Peck, Juaquin Rodrigo, and Morton Gould, March 11, 1997.

Madrigal Singers - Works by Benjamin Britten, John Taverner, Claude Debussy, and others. Also appearing: Women's Chorale, on March 14, 1997.

All concerts begin at 8 pm in the WSU Creative Arts Center Concert Hall

Ticket prices are $5 for students and $10 general admission

Theatre

A Midsummer Night's Dream - by William Shakespeare. Romance, magic, and a comic theatre troupe all add up to laughs in this, one of the Bard's finest. At the WSU Creative Arts Center February 20-23, 27, March 1 at 8 pm; February 23, March 1 and 2 at 3 pm.
