A new literary journal has been given wings--or should we saya tail-- at WSU. The first issue of The Fogdog Review wasreleased Winter Quarter, 1997. "Fogdog" is a Scottish word thatrefers to a "bright or clear spot in a fog bank," and is a namewhich came to the members of the WSU English Club from either "divineintervention or extreme delirium."
The journal is dedicated to publishing essays or creative works thatexplore literature from a wide variety of perspectives. Faculty advisorAnnette Oxindine suggests that students consider submitting their best criticalpapers written for WSU classes and stresses that it will be students, andnot faculty, judging their work.
Fogdog is published bi-annually, with its next scheduled issuefor the Fall Quarter of 1997. It will not feature fiction or poetry; sincesuch work s hould still be sent to Nexus in care of 1996-97 editorMark Owens. "Although we focus on a different kind of writing, we hopeto achieve the same kind of success that Nexus has," says co-editorCynthia Marshall.
