In order to apply to the social work major in 2013, all students must complete 20 hours of work at an approved social service agency. Some of you have already started at the WSU food pantry and at Saville Elementary. If not, you need to get busy! Here is a 3rd opportunity: Life Essentials will host a training on Monday April 16 at 10am (123 Riverside Dr., Suite 100, Dayton, OH 45405, 586-0545 phone). You will be working with the CHAPMS program which serves senior adults and individuals with mental/developmental disabilities. The purpose of the program is to improve socialization. Once a month, the group has a conversation and coffee time. The other meeting is a social outing to WalMart, bowling, etc. A schedule of the days and time is below. You will work out all of the details (including if you have to miss for vacation in the summer) with Amie of Life Essentials during the training. In order to complete your volunteer hours at Life Essentials, you must sign up by Thursday, April 12 at noon in the social work office. There is a sign up sheet on Carole's, the department coordinator's, desk. If you have any questions about the volunteer requirement, please contact Dr Twill at sarah.twill@wright.edu.
