Degree RequirementsThe Religion major at Wright State consists of 14 three- or four-credit courses in the Department. Four of these are specifically required. They are the introductory courses: What is Religion? (REL 205), Eastern Religions (REL 206), and Western Religions (REL 207), and a concluding course, Senior Seminar (REL 493). Six other courses are to be chosen from the several areas offered by the Department, and the remaining four courses are electives in the Department. At least six courses must be at the 300 level or above. Courses numbered up to 299 are for three credits; most courses numbered above 300 carry four credits.
All College of Liberal Arts requirements must be met. It is possible to combine a Religion major with a minor in another department, or to set up a dual major, or even to graduate with a double major. Students may wish to do one of these to broaden their preparation for graduate school or for professional or business employment, or just to explore their particular interests more fully. Honors studies in Religion may enable participation in the University Honors Program. The Religion MinorFor the minor in Religion, eight courses are required: REL 205, 206, 207 and five additional courses. At least three of the five courses must be at the 300 level or above. Dual Major For the dual major in Religion, eleven three- or four-credit courses are required, including REL 205, 206, 207, and 493, as well as courses from at least four of the six areas in the Department. At least five courses must be at the 300 level or above. Double Major In a double major, the full requirements of the Religion major and of the second major must be met.
