HONORS AND FELLOWSHIPS
From the American Association of State Colleges and Universities:
- The G. Theodore Mitau Award for Creative Innovation in Higher Education was awarded to Wright State University for its student exchange program between the University and the Federal and Catholic Universities of Paraná, Brazil. Garrison was co-founder of the program and co-leader of the first group that studied in Brazil.
From Wright State University:
- Presidential Award for Outstanding Faculty Member, 1998.
- Alumni Award for Excellence in Teaching, 1994. (Received the award at the December graduation and gave the graduation address.)
- WSU Presidential Award for Special Contributions, 1988, for composing the lyrics to the University’s Alma Mater.
- Honorary member (elected by a vote of the Wright State University Chapter) of Phi Kappa Phi, the National Honor Society at WSU.
