lecturer of Chinese
- M.B.A. Finance, Wright State University
- B.A. English, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai, China
I was born and grow up in Shanghai, China. After college, I worked in a shipbuilding business, teaching English and doing translation and interpretation in that industry (I still feel quite comfortable around a crane weighing 50 tons!). In 1984, I came to the United States as an exchange scholar to Penn State studying “Teaching English as a Second Language” and became a lifelong Penn State football fan (please don’t hate me!). I intended to work in the banking industry after I received my M.B.A., but providence intervened and teaching Chinese became my career and my passion. In 2001, I joined the Department of Modern Languages at Wright State as an adjunct instructor. I have developed Chinese courses from a meager beginning of three courses to the now-expanded 10-course program. I feel tremendous responsibility in teaching this language and hope that my students will have a better future as a result of my work and my passion for teaching.
In my free time I enjoy reading, spending time with my family and friends. Sitting on the sidelines watching my son play soccer every weekend, though, is absolute heaven!
