Minor in Chinese Studies
This is an interdepartmental minor, housed in the College of Liberal Arts, designed to provide a course of study in the field of Chinese studies that combines upper-level skills in Chinese language (Mandarin) with focused study within some of the major subfields of Chinese studies, including Political Science, Religion and History.
Courses:
- 15 credits of Chinese language beyond CHI 1020 (5 courses)
- + 6 elective credits of China-related coursework (2 courses)
- Total: 21 hours (7 courses)
- NOTE: At least 15 credit hours of the minor must come from actual classes taken as opposed to credits given for examination or back credit.

Electives
Electives need to be 3000 or 4000-level, with at least 50% of the focus of the course connected to the study of China. Electives currently being taught:

- Chinese Business Ethics (MGT 4800)
Additional courses may be submitted for inclusion as part of a student’s course of study, provided that they meet the 50% threshold cited above. Study abroad coursework, including WSU Ambassador programs, may also be counted as part of the elective study.
Students wishing to be admitted to the Chinese Studies Minor must:
- Have been admitted to a major subject;
- Have completed their first two semesters at Wright State University (at least 24 credits), with a GPA of 2.5 or better;
- Have achieved a cumulative average of at least 3.0 in at least 6 hours of CHI courses
