Students admitted to selected graduate programs at Wright State University and students who have received a graduate degree in History or in selected disciplines and are admitted to the Graduate School at Wright State University may choose to complete a Certificate in Archive Administration and Records Management. The requirements for the Certificate are HST 725-4 Introduction to Public History, 12 credits of the required professional courses in the field, a 5 credit internship, and a 1 credit public history project.

The certificate program makes it possible for graduate students in Humanities, English, Urban Affairs, Education, and other fields to earn professional certification in addition to MA Degrees in these fields. Students, who have previously earned a graduate degree in these fields or an MLS degree, may earn a Certificate in order to pursue professional goals. Students enrolled in the graduate program in English with an interest in historical document editing will find this option attractive. The certificate option will allow area professionals to enhance their credentials and skills.

Admission

Students must be admitted to the Graduate School at Wright State University in order to pursue the program. Students who have a previous graduate degree should apply as Non-degree graduate students. The Graduate Studies Committee in the Department of History will determine student eligibility based on student graduate degree program, transcripts, and a statement of career goals.

Students in the Thesis or Examination Plans may apply to complete a Certificate.

Students pursuing a graduate certificate in Museums or Archives and Records Management must receive approval from the Director of Public History before enrolling for coursework in the program.
