Public History Admissions

Public History is a degree option within the Department of History at Wright State University. Application requirements are the same for both Public History and History. Students are no longer required to submit Graduate Record Exam (GRE) Scores. In addition to transcripts and letters of recommendation, please include a writing sample (a previous paper assignment, an exhibit review, or other writing example, about 5 pages, double spaced, typed).

Financial Support

The Department of History awards both Tuition Fellowships and Graduate Assistantships to many students as a means of financial support. An Assistant receives a stipend of several thousand dollars in exchange for limited work—most likely as teaching assistants to professors lecturing to large classes. Assistantships are competitively awarded on the basis of a range of factors, including undergraduate performance and letters of recommendation. Please apply by March 15 to be considered in the earliest round of review for financial support for Fall Semester.  Please contact the Department of History for forms if you would like to apply for financial support.

Enewsletter

If you have applied for admission to Public History, you may sign up to receive the Enewsletter which will provide information on course registration and student employment opportunities as well as internships, career opportunities, and events. Please contact Dawne Dewey at dawne.dewey@wright.edu to request the Enewsletter.
