Graduate Tuition Scholarships
Each year, selected entering students will be awarded Graduate Tuition Scholarships. These scholarships are awarded competitively on the basis of academic merit. These scholarships are granted in dollar amounts according to available funds. In the current 2012-13 academic year, the value of each scholarship is about $8750, which represents a large portion, but not all of the tuition and fees for full-time graduate students. These awards are good for one year. For their second year, all graduate students are eligible to apply for Graduate Assistantships in the department.
Assistantships provide tuition remission and pay a stipend, currently in the range of $8000 annually. Most Graduate Assistants are assigned to faculty members and assist them in class preparation and grading. Assistants in Public History can also be assigned to the university archives. In addition, the Public History track has a number of temporary and work-study positions off-campus.
If you are a prospective student who wishes to apply for financial aid, download and submit the following form to the history department by April 1. The full application will also be due April 1 to the Graduate School.
If you are a continuing student preparing to enter a second year of full-time study, and wish to be considered for a Graduate Assistantship, download and submit the following form to the department by March 1. Please note: students who have already received two years of funding from the department are not eligible.Graduate Assistantship Application
