Program Overview: Theme Sections

All courses of ENG 101 and 102 teach fundamental writing, reading, and communications skills and concepts. Some sections will be based on a specific topic or style of writing. Courses that have a theme will not be identified in the course schedule. The only exceptions are Honors sections which, if they have a theme, are identified. Theme courses may require different texts and materials. If your course happens to be a theme section, your instructor will tell you.

Program Overview: Computer Classrooms

All sections of ENG 101 and 102 are offered in computer classrooms - except those taught completely online. Class assignments may make wide-ranging use of Internet resources, and may use online discussion groups, and newer web technologies like blogging, WINGS course pages (a tool called Course Studio), and electronic portfolios, in addition to word processing tools. The focus will always be on writing skills, with occasional projects which encourage students to share and use a variety of new media to develop personal and collaborative projects. The Dunbar Library's STAC Center is an excellent resource for assistance with presentation, web, and other software.
