Congratulations to Christopher Wahl (B.A. 1997, M.A. 1999), the 2010 CoLA
Outstanding Alumnus for English. A TESOL M.A. graduate of, Chris is now
Associate Dean for ESL, Bilingual and Developmental Education at
Hudson County Community College in Jersey City, NJ. Kudos, Dean Wahl!

Congratulations to English M.A. alumna Karen DePinto, who won two
writing awards this year: First Place, memoir, Sinclair Writing Contest,
and a Second Place award in the Erma Bombeck Essay Writing Contest!

Colloquium, Symposium, Writing Awards

Congratulations to Victoria Harley and Hayley Hughes, selected to represent English
with their works of original fiction at the College of Liberal Arts Undergraduate Symposium,
and to Chris Reszk, selected to present her paper at the College of Liberal Arts

KUDOS to grad student and TA Ryan Patrick Ireland, whose paper on
heteroglossia in the classroom has been accepted for publication by
Writing on the Edge, an interdisciplinary journal published by UC-Davis.
