COMMUNITY SERVICE

  • Jury Member for the Montgomery County Regional Arts District fellowship program for arts organizations: served with four other people in deciding on the allocation of approximately $150,000 in grant money for regional arts projects.

  • Translation projects for local businesses: translated documents and interpreted for many area businesses, including: Ali Industries; Bank One; Centrix; Columbia Great Lakes Corporation; Coolidge, Wall, Womsley and Lombard; Dayco and Day International; DelcoMoraine; Djinni Industries; First National Bank; Informed; Inland; Lightech; Mazer Corporation; Miami Valley Hospital; Miami Valley Worldwide; NCR; Penny, Ohlmann, Neimann, Inc.; Ponderosa; Sycamore Hospital; Systematic Business Forms; TechPak; Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

  • Legal interpreting: served as an interpreter in the following courts: U.S. District Court, 1988 to present; Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas, 198687, 1989, 1993-94; Greene County Court of Common Pleas, 198284; Fairborn Municipal Court, 1995-1997. Interpreted for various federal agencies including the FBI, U. S. Attorney, Pre-Trial Services, and Probation Department.

  • Translation and Voice-Over: translated filmed interviews and other materials and performed the “voiceover” for a week-long news series on Central America by Channel 22 News. The program won a regional broadcasting award.

  • Reader for Public Radio: gave readings of essays by various public figures for WDPR Public Radio in 1987.

  • Poetry and Fiction in Smith Gardens: founded and for four years directed a program of poetry and fiction readings by local and regional authors.

  • High School Evaluation / Accreditation: served on the evaluation / accreditation team for Chaminade-Julienne High School, 1985.
