The practicum
The practicum is designed to provide real-world experience for those students who have not been employed in a criminal justice field. It involves
activity at an actual criminal justice (or related) agency. The practicum is generally completed in one semester. Students should meet with
the practicum adviser by the beginning of the semester prior to the practicum's inception. Students taking a practicum should expect to spend
approximately 150 field hours on site for each three credit hours of registration. They should also be prepared to document the knowledge
and experience that they have gained in the practicum. Students may suggest or arrange practicum agencies, but such agencies must be
approved in advance by the practicum adviser. Students may not receive practicum credit for current or prior employment.
The interim practicum adviser is Dr. Karen Lahm. She may be contacted
