“My decision to attend Wright State University was an easy one. I have my associate’s degree in science from Clark State Community College. The transfer process to Wright State was the most feasible. Wright State’s faculty in the College of Business are very friendly and helpful. We have a the benefits of a big-time business school with a small feel. Students are not just a number. The faculty is here for the betterment of the students.”
Leadership: I have taken on many leadership roles since transferring to Wright State. I am the Raj Soin College of Business Senator for the 2009-2010 school year for Student Government. I am also both on the Dean’s Student Advisory Board and the Marketing Student Advisory Board. I serve as fundraising chair for the Marketing Club and philanthropy chair for Zeta Tau Alpha. Statewide, I also hold the position of Secretary for the College Democrats of Ohio.
Most Valuable Experience: One of the most valuable experiences has been the easy transition from my associate’s degree – and also, my great hands-on internship experience. One of my favorite experiences has been getting to know marketing faculty and learning about their backgrounds in both business and academia.
Internships/ Class projects: I did an internship at Qbase Inc. starting August 2008. The professional experiences I had at Qbase were very diverse and definitely valuable for my career goals. As a marketing major, projects are a key focus of our classroom learning experience. Two of my most fun and exciting projects were a Yellow Pages U-STORE-IT advertising campaign and a Hot Head Burrito Retailing and Services plan.
Career Plans: After graduation, I plan to obtain my MBA and law degree. I would like to work within the fashion retail sector in marketing and law.
Tips for Success:
- First year students should jump into their college experience and get involved within the Wright State community. You will enjoy your college experience much more. Involvement opportunities are vast in each college as well as the University as a whole.
- Look into all aspects of schools when doing your college search. Often we look at only some aspects of the college. You need to keep in mind that students often change their mind and their majors.
- The Raj Soin College of Business is accredited by AACSB Intenational. Although this may seem unimportant to you right now, after graduation both employers and graduate schools keep that in mind when making hiring and selection decisions.
