Cooperative Education
The cooperative education program at Wright State University gives students a chance to integrate classroom theory with practical, career-related work experience. Business students may alternate quarters of full-time educationally-related jobs and full-time class schedules; or students may choose to combine a part-time co-op work schedule with a reduced, but still full-time, course load.
Through the co-op program, students can gain valuable learning experiences, test career interests, learn more about business career fields, develop job-related skills, as well as earn income for college expenses. For details on program requirements and procedures contact:

Internships
An internship varies from a co-op in that it is generally a one-time experience, usually one quarter in duration. The advantages of participating in internships are similar to those listed above for the cooperative education program.
Students may complete an internship and receive academic credit with the permission of their academic department.
In general to receive academic credit, students must get pre-approval for their internship objectives, complete regular written reports and complete a final, analytical paper on their internship experience. To explore internship opportunities in your major, contact the following faculty members:
Tips for Finding Internships and Co-ops
- Develop a professional resume and keep it posted each month on Wright Search. Many employers will only consider intern candidates who have posted their resumes on college career sites.
- Check out the weekly job updates on the College of Business website.
- Check out on-campus recruiting and job fair opportunities http://www.wright.edu/rscob/
- Network and attend events sponsored by local chapters of professional associations in your major.
- Get involved in student business clubs for your major and meet alumni in your chosen career
- Identify the top ten companies where you want to intern. Apply on line. Find contacts in the company and send a compelling cover letter along with your resume both by email and in print. Follow-up by phone.
- Prepare for your interviews. Take advantage of the wide variety of services offered by Career Services – including mock interviews with videotaped feedback session.
- Job shadow. It’s an easy way explore career options and create a positive first impression that can lead to an internship and career employment.
- Network with family, friends, neighbors, faculty members and fellow students. Let them know you are seeking an internship, co-op or career position in a particular field or company. Ask them for contacts and an introduction.
- Contact the faculty mentor for your major. Share your interests and career goals. They will help with contacts and your internship search strategies.
