Economics Professor, Zdravka Todorova, Receives National Recognition for Dissertation

Dr. Zdravka Todorova has won the prestigious Veblen prize for her doctoral thesis "Reconsidering Households in Economic Theory". She is also the recipient of the 2007 "Outstanding Dissertation Award in Behavioral and Social Sciences from the University of Missouri--Kansas City." 

The Association for Evolutionary Economics (AEE) and the European Association for Evolutionary Political Economy (EAEPE) awarded two Category One winners in this international competition for outstanding doctoral dissertation to honor the 150th birthday of Thorstein Veblen, founder of the institutitional economics movement.   According to the EAEPE, website “This ambitious PhD thesis considers the role of households within a micro-macro framework developed from a Post Keynesian and chartalist monetary theory of production. The work adds a further, Veblenian dimension by addressing the roles of gender and production in a pecuniary culture. It is a highly skilful and creative synthesis.”
