Requirements and Coursework

Students will be admitted to the IB Minor after they have been accepted to their major program, earned junior status (90 hours), and have applied for the IB Minor.

The GPA required for admission to the IB Minor is the same as the required GPA for admission to the students' major program.

The IB Minor is interdisciplinary (culture, language, international business) and includes 28 hours of required coursework.

Non-business majors may earn a minor in International Business by completing the required coursework listed below:

  • Business Language (4 credits): French (FR 325) or German (GER 325) or Spanish (SPA 325)
  • International Relations (4 credits): PLS 222
  • International Business Foundations (4 credits): IB 201 International Business and Trade
  • Management and Marketing Foundations (8 credits): MGT 304 Management and Organizational Behavior; MKT 300 Principles of Marketing
  • International Business (8 credits): MGT 485 International Management and MKT 421 International Marketing

Students in Liberal Arts can complete 8 credits (a course in language and a course in international relations) as part of their major requirements and/or electives. Therefore, only 19 credit hours remain for Liberal Arts students to complete the IB Minor.
