Three Business Students Selected for Nationwide Scholarship Program

Three Raj Soin College of Business students—Daniel Johnson, Danielle Thompson, and Ann Banna—were selected for the prestigious Washington Center Internship Program for the summer of 2006, sponsored through the Ohio Board of Regents. Johnson and Thompson were also selected for the highly selective Norm Mineta Program, which offers 90 scholarships nationwide to over 6000 students participating in the internship program, providing a full scholarship that covers the cost of the Washington Center tuition and housing.

The Washington Center is a nonprofit organization that places college students in internships in Washington D.C. for one academic quarter. The Washington Center prides itslef on providing diverse and highly motivated interns to thousands of organizations in government, business, and the non-profit sector.

In addition to their internship, the students will also take classes pertaining to their field of study, hear from government spokespersons, and attend a weekly professional lecture series consisting of perspectives from distinguished business leaders. The students will maintain a portfolio of their professional development experiences while in D.C.

Daniel Johnson, from Beavercreek Ohio, is a business management major with a minor in marketing. He worked in the Department of Defense Army personnel management division (PERSCOM) as a human resource intern.

Danielle Thompson, from Cincinnati, is majoring in marketing with a minor in management.

Ann Banna is a senior management major with a minor in marketing. She served as a special events assistant for the United States Department of Treasury, designing promotional materials, correspondence, and web design, and conducting research and event planning.

This will be a great experience for all three of the Wright State University students. It is not only a great resume-building experience, but also a great opportunity in starting a far-reaching career. Theses three students illustrate the caliber of excellence found within the Raj Soin College of Business.
