Wright State business students collect top honors in national case competition at graduate, undergraduate level
Student teams from the Wright State University Raj Soin College of Business placed first and second recently in the 21st annual National Case Competition. The event, sponsored by the Society for the Advancement of Management, was held April 3-6 in Las Vegas, Nev.
The undergraduate team of Julie Clements, a management major, Troy Lindo, an accounting major, and Brian Apwisch, a management/human resources major, was the national champion. The graduate team of Shannon Sinclair and Andrew Valerius, both accounting majors, and Jonathan Gauder, a marketing major, placed second in the nation.
The competition involved more than 40 teams representing such institutions as the University of Tennessee, Texas A&M, George Mason, St. John’s and Northern Illinois. Their case involved examining the AOL-Time Warner merger and its strategic, organizational, financial and marketing implications.
The Wright State team was directed by Lisa Crawford, a lecturer in management at the Raj Soin College of Business. This is the third consecutive year that the WSU team placed either first or second in the nation.
