May 03, 2004 WSU Raj Soin College of Business students win national financial planning competition Students from the Raj Soin College of Business at Wright State University won first place in a recent financial planning competition sponsored by American Express Financial Advisors.Sally Renk, Joshua Sodders and Peter Young, WSU financial services majors, were selected first in the case competition. Their project involved preparation of a comprehensive financial plan from a complex client profile. The nationwide competition involved almost 50 major universities, including The Ohio State University, Virginia Tech, Texas Tech, University of Minnesota, University of Wisconsin and Kansas State University. “Unlike many other case competitions, students in this event received no coaching from faculty or other financial professionals,” explained William Wood, CFP®, coordinator of the financial services program at Wright State. “They had 30 days to complete their analysis, all without the use of any financial planning software packages,” he said.
