ABS 701      RESEARCH METHODS I (Credits: 4)

Emphasis on research designs, testing hypotheses, and techniques for collecting data such as questionnaire formation, sampling, surveys, scaling, interviewing, and analysis of documents and records.

ABS 702      RESEARCH METHODS II (Credits: 4)

Analysis and interpretation of data in social research, with emphasis on multivariate statistical techniques.

PREREQUISITE: ABS 701.

ABS 703      APPLIED METHODOLOGY (Credits: 4)

Addresses issues pertaining to the collection and analysis of data in various settings, for the purpose of program evaluation, policy analysis, and other applied objectives.

PREREQUISITE: ABS 702.

ABS 730      THEORIES OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND COMPARATIVE POLITICS (Credits: 4)

Introduction to the theories and concepts employed in modern political analysts with emphasis on the study of international relations and comparative policies.

ABS 731      GRAD SEMINAR IN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS/COMPARATIVE POLITICS (Credits: 4)

Selected topics or issue areas in international relations or comparative politics.May be repeated for credit under a differing subtitle.

ABS 746      COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND PLANNING (Credits: 4)

Basic concepts and theories of community development and the planning practice.Evaluation of current developments in the field of community development and planning with special emphasis on implementation strategies.

ABS 751      THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS (Credits: 4)

Focuses on theories of anomie, alienation, social disorganization, and social dysfunction that underlie contemporary paradigms in the study of deviance, criminology, and criminal justice.

ABS 752      EXPLAINING CRIME (Credits: 4)

Study of contemporary theories of deviant behavior from both an institutional and social-psychological perspective, with emphasis on the relationship between social change and social disorganization.

ABS 753      SEMINAR ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE (Credits: 4)

(Also listed as SOC 770.) An investigation of the criminal justice system in the United States and its relation to deviant adult and juvenile behavior.

PREREQUISITE: ABS 752.

ABS 775      METHODS IN HEALTH CARE RESEARCH AND EVALUATION (Credits: 4)

Seminar in the designs and methods used in health care research and evaluation.Emphasis on current and future areas of health care research and evaluation.Focus of seminar is on skill development.

ABS 777      INDEPENDENT RESEARCH (Credits: 1 TO 5)

Independent laboratory or field research under the sponsorship of a faculty supervisor. Graded pass/unsatisfactory.

ABS 779      PRACTICUM IN APPLIED BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE (Credits: 2 TO 6)

On-site participation of students in selected behavioral science projects. Jointly supervised by faculty and on-site personnel. May be repeated once for credit.

PREREQUISITE: ABS 703.

ABS 788      GRADUATE SEMINAR IN APPLIED BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE (Credits: 1 TO 4)

In-depth coverage of special topics in applied behavioral science. Topics vary. May be taken for a letter grade or pass/unsatisfactory.

ABS 789      CONTINUING REGISTRATION (Credits: 1)

Continuing Registration

ABS 798      ABS GRADUATE PROJECT (Credits: 1 TO 10)

Practical application of knowledge gained through student courses is applied to a capstone experience. Graded pass/unsatisfactory.

PREREQUISITE: ABS REQUIRED COURSES AND 24 HOURS OF GRADUATE
CREDIT.

ABS 799      GRADUATE THESIS RESEARCH (Credits: 1 TO 8)

Research for the master's degree thesis.

ABS 853      WORKSPACE DESIGN AND ANTHROPOMETRY (Credits: 4)

Analyses of design parameters for effective use of workspace, includes seated, standing and hand-arm manipulation.
