ABX Air human resources strategies topic of Human Resources Lecture at Wright State
Late in the evening—every evening—the first of more than 100 jetliners arrives at the Wilmington Air Park southeast of Dayton. An army of skilled technicians and sorters quickly unload each of the air freighters, resort their cargos and within hours send the reloaded aircraft on their way.
Recruiting, training and maintaining the 7,500-person work force that makes it all possible is Gene Rhodes, vice president for human resources for ABX Air. As part of the Human Resources Lecture Series sponsored by Wright State University’s Raj Soin College of Business and Right Management Consultants, Rhodes will present “The ABX Story: HR Strategies Within a Field of Dreams” on Tuesday, April 26, at 8 a.m. in the Nutter Center Berry Room on campus.
Rhodes will explain how ABX Air has managed to thrive, despite the pressures that have grounded so many others in the aviation industry. He will share his insights on HR’s strategic role in ABX Air’s success. Rhodes will also discuss how ABX works to align HR programs with company values, how the company maintains its employees’ sense of security in a volatile industry and how it meets enormous and unique recruiting demands.
A light breakfast will be served beginning at 7:30 a.m. Reservations are required and may be made by Tuesday, April 19, by contacting Jeanne Cornor at jeannecornor@yahoo.com or (937) 775-2559. Visit http://www.wright.edu/business/mgt/mgtseries.htm for more information.
