Wright State professors to speak at State of the State Conference

Faculty members in Wright State University’s Raj Soin College of Business will make one of the key presentations at the 10th annual State of the State Conference. This statewide diversity conference on equity, opportunity, and diversity is scheduled for Thursday, March 24, at 8:30 a.m. at the Sinclair Community College Ponitz Center in downtown Dayton.

Professors William Slonaker, J.D., associate professor of business law, and Ann Wendt, Ph.D., professor of management, will present “Documenting Discrimination,” a summary of their studies of employment discrimination in Ohio. Their research, published as The Ohio Employment Discrimination Studies, is based on the most complete data available in the U.S. and was honored by the Ohio Civil Rights Commission.

The State of the State Conference is designed to be a broad and diverse conversation, as representatives from institutions and organizations across the spectrum—education, state and local government, judiciary, health care, private corporations and non-profits—are brought together to exchange information, ideas and strategies. Dayton Mayor Rhine McLin, who will open the conference, proclaimed March 24 as “The State of the State Day.”

The State of the State conference was conceived to provide an opportunity for Ohioans to come together to discuss how individuals and institutions across the state are reacting to and preparing for changes and challenges in such areas as racial disparities, gender discrimination, sexual orientation, media and diversity, and disability issues.

The fee for the conference is $99 per person in advance (prior to Thursday, March 17) and $125 general admission. The fee includes breakfast and lunch. Continuing education credits are also available ($125 prior to Thursday, March 17 and $150 after). Visit the conference Web site at http://iis.stat.wright.edu/sos for more information or to register.
