Edward Haas named chair of history department at Wright State
Edward Haas, Ph.D., professor of history, has been named chair of the history department at Wright State University.
Haas, who will assume the position in January, has been a Wright State faculty member since 1988 and previously served as department chair from 1990 to 1995. He also has served Wright State as director of the graduate program in historical and archival administration, and he has served on the Ohio Museum Association board.
Haas is a former senior historian and director of the Louisiana Historical Center at the Louisiana State Museum. He also served the museum as associate director for research and publications, and he is a past president of the Louisiana Historical Association.
Haas also has taught at Tulane University and the University of New Orleans. His teaching and research fields include Southern history, modern American history and American urban history, and his specialty is the history of the modern South.
Haas has written several books and numerous articles on various aspects of Louisiana history, and he has been honored by the Louisiana Historical Association for his contributions to the state’s history.
Haas holds a B.A. degree from Tulane University and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Maryland, College Park.
