Three administrative appointments announced at WSU’s Raj Soin College of Business
Three administrative appointments have been announced at the Wright State University Raj Soin College of Business by Dean Berkwood Farmer, Ph.D.
Bud Baker, Ph.D., has been named associate dean for graduate programs, international and community relations, M. Fall Ainina, Ph.D., has been named chair of the finance and financial services department and Charles Hartmann has been named chair of the management department.
“I am pleased to announce these appointments that reflect the outstanding contributions these faculty members have made to the advancement of our students, ongoing cooperation with the business community and research scholarship for more than a decade,” said Farmer.
Baker, a professor of management and WSU faculty member since 1991, will be responsible for enhancing the college’s graduate programs and extending the college’s collaboration with the local and global business community. He was previously chair of the management department and has taught courses in project management, leadership, organizational change and business strategy.
Baker, who served 20 years in the Air Force, is a member of the Project Management Institute and recipient of the Wright State President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. He holds Ph.D. and M.A. degrees in management from Claremont Graduate School and an MBA degree from the University of North Dakota.
Ainina, a professor of finance who joined the WSU faculty in 1986, has been instrumental in developing the college’s finance and international business programs. Ainina, a charter financial analyst, will lead the development of the college’s new state-of-the-art MTC Technologies Trading Center. This facility will enhance the student managed investment program that, under his guidance, has consistently outpaced the Standard and Poor’s 500 index.
Ainina, a former ambassador to the United States from the country of Mauritania in Africa, has served as a guest lecturer in Europe and South America. He holds a Ph.D. degree in finance from Arizona State University and an MBA degree in finance from Ball State University.
Hartmann, a professor of management, has been a faculty member at WSU since 1970. In his new post he will be responsible for the department’s undergraduate and graduate programs, including the curriculum for human resources, leadership, innovation and change.
Hartmann has developed and taught courses in the legal, regulatory, political and social environment of business. His research in the economic analysis of law is widely published in legal and business literature. Hartmann holds an A.B. degree in economics from Washington University in St. Louis and J.D. degree from the University of Missouri. He is a Fellow of the Society for Advanced Legal Studies in England and member of the American and Missouri Bar Associations.
