April 9, 2008 Wright State’s Asian Culture Night features chorus from China As the cherry blossoms bloom in Washington, D.C., and China prepares for the summer Olympics in Beijing, Wright State University kicks off its celebration of Asian Heritage Month with Asian Culture Night. Come and experience a night of cultural “explorASIAN” through the performing arts on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. in the Student Union Apollo Room. The event is part of the university’s 2008 Asian Heritage Month celebration, which also includes various lectures, art exhibits and films celebrating Asian culture and heritage.This year’s culture night event features traditional songs, folk dances and a fashion show of traditional dress. The special guests and feature performance of the evening will be the Li-Juan Golden Rose Girls’ Choir. The choir has come from the Sichuan Conservatory of Music in China to perform for the first time in Dayton, Ohio. The Sichuan Conservatory was established in 1939 and the Li-Juan Golden Rose Girls’ Chorus has won regional and national awards. The choir has excited audiences throughout Asia, the United States and Europe. Wright State invites the community to a multifaceted blend of exquisite songs, vibrant costumes, distinctive music and traditional dances in celebration of Asian Heritage Month. Admission is $8 for students with Wright State ID in advance; $10 for students with Wright State ID at the door, $10 for the general public and $8 for children ages 5 to 12.
