I-75 corridor growth spurs MBA program at Mound Center in Miamisburg by Wright State

One of the fastest growing regions of Ohio is along the I-75 corridor south from Dayton toward Cincinnati. And a driving force behind this expansion is the location of high-tech business and innovative technology firms in the area.

To help service the education demands created by this growth, officials at Wright State University’s Raj Soin College of Business have announced a South Dayton MBA program for graduate students interested in business and technology. Beginning next January, Wright State will offer an intensive, two-year MBA weekend program of 48 credits at the Mound Advanced Technology Center in Miamisburg.

“This program specifically links business and technology to provide the students with the knowledge and skills needed for success in an economy driven by global technology,” said Berkwood Farmer, Ph.D., dean of the college.

Farmer said the program is geared toward working professionals, with classes meeting six times per quarter on Friday evenings and half a day on Saturday. Students will take two courses per quarter from full-time Wright State faculty. The curriculum will feature business electives focused on innovation, technology and entrepreneurship. Other features include business community guest speakers with expertise in innovation and technology and a capstone course to complete the degree requirements.

Miamisburg Mound Community Improvement Corporation (MMCIC) President Mike Grauwelman said, “For years the Mound was synonymous with innovation, and it’s exciting to be able to restore this site as a place where new ideas and creativity can flourish.”

MMCIC officials and Wright State business college leaders announced a cooperative venture last spring to spur development of the Mound Advanced Technology Center. The MBA program is part of this collaboration.
