January 25, 2006 Students can network with area’s premier IT professionals at Wright State’s upcoming Digital Mixer Wright State University is partnering with the business community, the Greater Dayton IT Alliance, i-Zone and others to give area college students a unique opportunity to network with the region’s premier IT professionals and explore information technology as a career field.The ‘Digital Mixer’ will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 7, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the WSU Student Union Apollo Room. The event will also update business leaders on the latest IT developments and help position Dayton as a leader in information technology. Sponsors include the WSU Raj Soin College of Business, Greater Dayton IT Alliance, Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, i-Zone and WSU Career Services. “This is a networking event designed to bring IT college students, faculty and IT employers together,” explained Barbara Denison, coordinator of the event and an assistant professor in information systems and operations management with the Wright State University Raj Soin College of Business. “This informal and interactive event is planned to allow college students from WSU and other area colleges and universities to investigate internships, ask about IT jobs and explore career options with IT companies in the greater Dayton area.” Tony Bourne, manager of Workforce Development for the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, said the mixer “will provide employers with the chance to talk with students about internships, mentoring and career opportunities while sharing information on industry trends and expectations. Our vision is to position the Dayton area as an IT leader and attract talent and organizations to this region.” Among the participating employers are Kroger, NCR, Standard Register, City of Dayton, International Truck and Engine and CDO Technologies.
