International Business Honor Society Established
On January 27, the WSU Alpha Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Epsilon, an international business honor society recently formed at the Wright State University Raj Soin College of Business, held its charter ceremony.
Oded Shenkar, of the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University, was the guest speaker. He is the Ford Motor Company chaired professor of global business management at Fisher and an expert on international business and management.
Along with Shenkar, the inductees included Raj Soin, Wright States college of business benefactor, and Berkwood Farmer, dean of the college of business. Other inductees were Sam A. Sked; students Pilar Alegre, Brian Harrelson, Ashwin Babu, and Irina Lachugina; and RSCOB faculty and staff members Nancy Broughton, David Bukovinsky, Gregory Graman, Charles Hartmann, Andrew Lai, Monica Snow, L. Wakiuru Wamwara-Mbugua, Kimberly Brumbaugh, Elfe Dona, Nicolas Gressis, Leonard Kloft, Ginette Ninon, and Michelle Streeter-Ferrari.
Alpha Kappa Epsilon, the only international business honor society in the world, was established to recognize and promote excellence in scholarship, research, professionalism, and leadership, said Inder Khera, professor of marketing at the Raj Soin College of Business. The groundwork to create the society was supported through a Title VI-B Grant awarded to Wright State from the U.S. Department of Education.
Khera has been selected national president of the society. He said the local chapter has extended invitations to qualified junior, senior, and graduate students and business faculty at Wright State, plus area international business leaders. He said the honor society will pursue the development of campus chapters at business colleges throughout the country.
Also serving as national officers are Joseph Petrick, national vice president and a WSU professor of management; Robert Scherer, national executive secretary and dean of the Cleveland State College of Business Administration; and Douglas Nord, national treasurer and executive director of the University Center for International Education at Wright State.
