Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitor

photo of a student using a laptopRespondus LockDown Browser is a simple web browser that will only let the user access Pilot and nothing else on the web or the computer it is running on while it is being used. It’s main use is as a secure, online testing environment that only allows a student to log into Pilot and take online tests when it is used. When LockDown Browser launches, it fills the entire screen, blanks any other displays attached to that computer, disables printing, screen capture, right mouse clicks, keyboard shortcuts and blocks the use of any other programs on that computer which limits that computer to accessing Pilot and nothing else thus preventing the computer from being used to cheat on tests and prevents the student from capturing or printing anything from tests they are taking. The first time a student is required to take a test in Pilot using LockDown Browser, they are prompted to download and install it. They will not be allowed to open and take the test unless they are using the LockDown Browser. Once they launch LockDown Browser, the ONLY website they have access to is Pilot. Once they complete and submit the test, they can quit LockDown Browser and the full functionality of that computer is restored.

Respondus Monitor is an available feature of LockDown Browser that records students' webcams for online, non-proctored exams.
